When selecting a career path, your college experience can make a huge impact on which direction you decide to go. This week we sat down with Business Development Rep, Dylan Agard, to learn more about how his experience at Texas Christian University led him to Arrive.

Where did you go to school and what did you study?

I went to Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX and graduated in 2020 from the Neeley School of Business with a degree in Supply and Value Chain Management.

How did you first hear about Arrive?

I first found out about Arrive by doing research on 3PLs based in Austin, TX. I then started learning about the culture and growth of the company and was immediately interested.

How did you become interested in going into sales and logistics?

I have always been interested in logistics, and being in sales felt like the right mix of logistics and customer-facing experiences. I get to work in the industry I enjoy and also solve problems and provide solutions for people all while building relationships.

What’s your favorite part of your job? 

My favorite part is the pace at which things move. There is never a dull moment and it feels like each day you are thrown a new issue or opportunity to handle. The people are also awesome. There is never a door closed or someone not willing to help, and being able to bounce ideas off each other like this has been incredible.

What keeps you at Arrive?

I really enjoy the problem solving nature of being at Arrive. I am always dealing with different situations and opportunities, as well as a variety of different people. Being able to provide a solution and help out a customer is really awesome and never gets old.

Have any advice for soon-to-be college grads?

My advice would be just to work hard and be open to all opportunities. Being as open-minded as possible has helped me in so many ways.

If you could go back in time and tell your college self one thing, what would it be?

I would say don’t just try and follow in the mold of what you think you should be doing post-graduation. Take some chances and try new things, and whatever you choose, go all out.

For someone about to start a career in sales and logistics, what would you tell them? 

Try to stay as up to date with what is happening in the market/world. Knowing what is happening in the industry not only makes you better equipped in this job, but also way more knowledgeable with customers.
