Here at Arrive, our people come from a variety of great universities across the country. We sat down with Jacob Crawford, Business Development Representative, to learn more about how he found his opportunity at Arrive, why he loves his role and the advice he has for soon-to-be graduates.
Where did you go to school and what did you study?
I graduated from the Gerdin College of Business at Iowa State University. I studied Business Management with a minor in Marketing.
How did you first hear about Arrive?
I saw it on LinkedIn as a suggested job. I really didn’t know what to expect when I applied. I had never heard of freight or logistics. After the first interview, I thought it sounded like an exciting opportunity!
How did you become interested in going into the logistics industry?
I became interested after my first interview. I got a rundown of the industry and it sounded fun. I really like the fast-paced environment. Also, the commission possibilities were something I was really hooked by.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is coming through in tough situations. Your customers ask you for a lot and when you’re able to come through for them, it’s a great feeling.
What keeps you at Arrive?
The relationships I have with my managers and other reps make Arrive a great place to work and grow. I can see my future here. With how fast Arrive is growing, there are so many opportunities.
Have any advice for soon-to-be college grads?
Don’t pretend to be “the best” fit for the job you’re applying for. Be yourself and great employers will find where you will be most successful.
If you could go back in time and tell your college self one thing, what would it be?
Where you work and who you work with is often more important than what you do for work.
For someone about to start a career in sales and logistics, what would you tell them?
Ask questions about EVERYTHING. There is no bad question the first time, but make sure you take notes and learn quickly. This industry gives anyone the potential to make as much money they could possibly want. If you grind, there is no limit to what you can do.
