At Arrive, our employees are our greatest asset. We sat down with Business Development Representative, Erin Nagy, to learn more about her role at Arrive and how her experience at the University of Kansas led her to Arrive.
Where did you go to school and what did you study?
I went to the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. I studied Marketing at the University of Kansas School of Business.
How did you first hear about Arrive?
I first heard about Arrive through LinkedIn. I was looking for sales roles within the Chicago area and when I read the description I thought it would be a great fit so I applied! The interview process was the best experience. I felt Arrive’s fast and collaborative culture immediately from the start of the first interview and throughout the rest of the interview process with each person I interacted with.
How did you become interested in going into sales and logistics?
Going into logistics was not on my radar. I didn’t know anything about the industry, but that was the most exciting part. Learning everything from the ground up has been such a great experience that has pushed me out of my comfort zone and is a crazy ride that I would recommend to anyone!
What’s your favorite part of your job?
The endless opportunities and room for growth! There is always more prospecting to be done, more business to be landed and more money to be made. There are so many motivators that surround this job which makes the fast pace part of our role even more exciting.
What keeps you at Arrive?
Definitely the endless opportunity to bring on new business and the people! I always had a vision for what I wanted the culture to be like wherever I chose to work, and Arrive has exceeded all visions and expectations I have ever had! Everyone is always there to help, answer questions and motivate each other, which makes coming into work every day so enjoyable and fun.
Have any advice for soon-to-be college grads?
My advice would be to challenge yourself and get out of your comfort zone. Don’t be scared to get into an industry you know nothing about, take everything in and always keep in mind there is something to learn! I am a big believer that we can never stop learning.
If you could go back in time and tell your college self one thing, what would it be?
I would tell myself to enjoy the time left as a student and to be open to anything and everything post-grad. Don’t sell yourself short.
For someone about to start a career in sales and logistics, what would you tell them?
It is challenging and rewarding all while being fun! This industry is unlike any other and it is so cool to see how the work we do affects so much around us. Also, it is definitely important to stay in tune with the market as it is ever-changing, so whatever you can do to expand your knowledge in that aspect will help your future self as well as your current and future book of business.
