The people at Arrive Logistics are what make this organization truly unique. We sat down with Lauren Asbury, Business Development L&D Manager, to hear more about her role and why she loves being at Arrive.

How did you learn about Arrive and start working here?

I was moving to Austin from Columbus and was looking for jobs and stumbled across Arrive. I worked at a different brokerage for six and a half years before making the decision to move to Austin. I wasn’t planning on working for another brokerage, but since I was leaving my previous job on good terms, I mentioned Arrive to them out of curiosity. They said they had heard good things about it and had coworkers who worked there now, so I applied!

What does your daily routine look like?

My day-to-day routine is pretty consistent. I start my morning getting ready for the day by making  myself a glass of warm lemon water and a cup of coffee. I begin my work day going through emails, prepping my schedule for the day and then diving right into my projects. After work, I’ll usually get a workout in and take my dog for a walk. I end the day having dinner with my fiancé and watching a show together.

What does an average day in your role look like?

In my role at Arrive, every day is different! I have a diverse position where I get to work with a variety of new people. I mostly work with our new business development representatives, acting as a trusted advisor for them from when they start their training program at Arrive until they’re about six to seven months into the job. I also work with our training team and different leaders and directors across the business. Most of my day consists of meeting with different people regarding different topics and understanding what’s going on in their world and ensuring all information is transparent for them. Even after our newer reps progress, I’m always a point of reference for them as they continue their careers at Arrive.

What do you prioritize in your work?

Arrive is a people-first organization, so my highest priority is maintaining relationships with each individual, especially our business development representatives. My main purpose is to make sure each of them is as successful as possible.

How has your role at Arrive evolved?

Since I first started at Arrive, my role has grown and changed quite a bit. I started out as a classroom trainer where I assisted with initial onboarding and training for our representatives. I later transitioned into a lead role where I managed classroom trainers and taught in the classroom. From there, I took on a more developed role where I was responsible for training more tenured employees right before they complete their onboarding. Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to work with our Arrive Fresh team, our newest division focused on filling the void in capacity and service for the most perishable shipments in the U.S. In that role, I learned so much about building and scheduling loads for produce. Right now, my role is completely focused on the business development side of the business where I focus on learning and development for our reps.

How has Arrive grown since you first started?

Arrive is proactive and ahead of the game. We have a great foundation, and nothing is ever set in stone which keeps us constantly moving, adapting and making sense of ambiguity. Arrive is always looking to build new things and improve. We truly have the best technology in the business which is a huge reason why we are always aiming to reach that next step.

What do you like to do outside of work?

When I’m not at Arrive, I like to spend my time here in Austin with my fiancé and our dog. We love being outdoors, hiking and trying out new restaurants!

How do you consume your news?

I consume most of my news on Twitter. Once I see something on there that interests me, I’ll go online to find an article to read more about the topic. I also listen to a few podcasts including Embedded and Radiolab. I always scroll through the top stories that pop up on my phone as well.

What are your goals for 2021?

My 2021 goal at Arrive is to create a replicable and consistent program for business development that gives everyone the same experience but is tailored to each individual. As far as a personal goal, I’d love to start reading more and be more intentional in my day-to-day life.

What keeps you at Arrive?

There are so many things I love about Arrive that keep me here, especially the people. Everyone I work with is extremely creative. Our new representatives are so driven, personable and excited about selling. Our business leaders are creative, passionate, and they make the work here fun and interesting. I enjoy how everything is different and new and that I have autonomy over creation. Everything I do here at Arrive is a unique experience and something I feel like I can’t do anywhere else.
