When we ask employees what their favorite part of working at Arrive is, the answer is usually the same – the people! We sat down with Omar Estrada, Coverage Team Lead, to hear more about his role on the Carrier Relations Team and why he loves being part of team Arrive.
How did you learn about Arrive and start working here?
After I graduated from Texas State in 2019, I was working in the oil industry in West Texas and looking for new opportunities. I found Arrive and never imagined I would get into the logistics business, but once I learned more I was excited to take the job once I got the offer. I moved to Austin and have been with Arrive ever since!
What does your daily routine look like?
I wake up around 6 a.m. and go. I am always on the move! Once I get to Arrive, I drink a cup of coffee and get to it. During lunch, I’ll typically go home, grab a snack and run a few errands. After work, I spend time with my girlfriend working on furniture restoration. We have our own furniture restoration small business, so we spend a lot of our time working on sourcing and restoring furniture from the 50s and 60s.
What does an average day in your role look like?
As of right now, an average day for me on the Coverage Team consists of mentoring and training our newer reps and helping them build good habits. Most of my time is spent guiding them toward success. I go to each rep individually multiple times throughout the day to check in on how they’re doing and answer any questions they have. I guide them through new processes, give them clarity on anything they’re struggling with and am always there for them if they need anything.
What do you prioritize in your work?
My number one priority at Arrive is to ensure our reps are building good habits. It’s easier to instill these in our reps while they’re fresh to the team, rather than later down the road.
How has your role at Arrive evolved?
I first started at Arrive in 2019 as a Carrier Sales Rep. I later transitioned over to our Accounting team for a bit. I was then asked if I wanted to come back to the sales floor which I jumped on and that’s how I got to my role now on the Coverage Team. My current role is a Team Lead, so I find myself mainly in a role of mentoring and guiding our new reps.
How has Arrive grown since you first started?
Arrive has grown a massive amount since I first started. In only a matter of months, I watched our team grow from around 500 employees to more than 900. Over time, I’ve also realized how people-oriented Arrive is. Once the pandemic hit, Arrive really showed how much they care about each employee, and I appreciate the company so much for that.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of Arrive, my main hobby is working on my furniture restoration, Ravenhouse Vintage! My girlfriend started it and then later asked me if I wanted to get involved. I never imagined I would enjoy furniture restoration, and I didn’t know anything about it when I first started. It has grown a lot. We now have furniture piled up in multiple storage units. It takes up most of my free time, but I enjoy learning more about old furniture, researching and just focusing on it as my hobby.
What are your goals for 2021?
My professional goal is to build upon my opportunity here at Arrive. I want to build up the Coverage Team in whatever way possible and continue to ensure that anyone joining the team is guided in the right direction and builds good habits. As far as personal goals, I’m trying to prioritize fitness and workout more often. I enjoy swimming so I’m hoping to get back into that more.
What keeps you at Arrive?
I’m not perfect and neither is Arrive, but Arrive is always there for me and that is what keeps me here. The company is extremely people-centric, and I love that hustle and hard work are always recognized. I feel like there isn’t enough of that these days, so I appreciate that everyone at Arrive works hard. It doesn’t go unnoticed.
